By Confirmation, the fullness of the Spirit and the gifts of wisdom, understanding, right judgement, courage, knowledge, wonder and awe are bestowed. By this outpouring, Christians are enabled to spread God’s love throughout the world bringing peace and joy to all through the Holy Spirit.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is usually received when a child is in year 6, though older children who have not yet been confirmed are also invited to participate in the preparation program and receive the Sacrament.

For students of St Columba’s Primary School and other local schools, preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation involves:

  • Completing the Sacrament enrolment form and providing the required attachments, such as the child’s Baptism certificate (which can be obtained from the church of Baptism).  The enrolment form can be obtained from the parish office. Please email the Pastoral Associate at [email protected] to request an enrolment form.
  • Attending the Commitment Mass, held at 10:00 am on the Sunday preceding the beginning of the Preparation Program. Students will receive their preparation workbooks at the Mass.
  • The child and a parent attend 4 group preparation sessions, held weekly (approx. 45 mins per session)
  • Candidates to attend a Retreat Day held at St Columba’s Parish at the end of the preparation program. (Date TBC.)
